Riley Leitch
Riley Leitch is an experimental trombonist dismantling barriers between disciplines and advocating dialogue across traditional concert roles. In this program, Riley will premiere three new works where the trombone is paired with theatre (The Hunter), dance and movement (Oscar), and augmented reality (Vox II). The trombone as a versatile instrument brings depth to these disciplines in a bold new way. Jenna Lyle's Oscar creates a simulacrum of human motion with 8mm tape and trashbags. Omar Peracha's Vox II incorporates and gamifies the actions of audience members via iOS. Sivan Cohen Elias' The Hunter explores a world's oceans made of trash where impossible creatures evolve and a solitary trombone turns into a hunter's equipment and mechanical tools.
Jenna Lyle: Oscar for trombone and tape (premiere)
Omar Peracha: Vox II (premiere)
